Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 July 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Signal Society iOS application, the signalsociety.app website, and related services (together, the "Service"), provided by Pegasus Partners Ltd. ("Signal Society", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms are an agreement between you and us, not between you and Apple Inc. ("Apple"). See section 17 for terms that apply because you obtained the app through the Apple App Store.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.
2. What the Service is
Signal Society is a personal-development audio app. You write or select personal statements ("your words"), choose a voice, and the app assembles personalized affirmation audio (your "Signal") that you listen to as a daily practice. Some features let you personalize, save, revisit, and optionally share elements of your practice.
3. What the Service is not
This section is important. Please read it carefully.
- Not medical care. The Service is not a medical device, medical treatment, or healthcare service, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
- Not therapy or clinical care. The Service is not psychotherapy, counseling, or any form of clinical mental-health care, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. It is not hypnotherapy and does not provide clinical hypnosis.
- Not sleep treatment. The Service does not claim to treat insomnia or any sleep disorder, and it does not perform "sleep hypnosis."
- No subliminal content. All audio in the Service is fully audible spoken content. We do not embed subliminal messages, hidden frequencies, or content designed to operate below conscious perception.
- No guaranteed outcomes. A self-talk practice affects different people differently. We make no promise of any specific psychological, emotional, professional, or other result.
If you are in crisis or believe you may have a medical or mental-health condition, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services. Do not rely on the Service for help in an emergency.
4. Your account
Certain features require an account. You are responsible for safeguarding access to your account and for activity that occurs under it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data).
5. Subscriptions, billing, and free trials
- Purchases go through Apple. Paid subscriptions are offered as auto-renewable subscriptions purchased through your Apple account. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your full payment-card details. We use a subscription-management provider (currently RevenueCat) to validate and keep track of your subscription status.
- Pricing and terms are shown before you buy. The subscription price, billing period, and any free-trial length are displayed in the app before you confirm a purchase.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription converts to a paid subscription and your Apple account is charged at the price disclosed.
- Auto-renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your device). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Restore purchases. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you can restore an active subscription using the "Restore Purchases" option in the app, signed in with the same Apple account.
- Refunds. Payments are processed by Apple and refunds are governed by Apple's policies. Request refunds through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). We generally cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases directly.
- Price changes. If a subscription price changes, Apple will notify you as required and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
6. Your content
- You own your words. You retain ownership of the text, answers, affirmations, and other content you create in the Service ("Your Content").
- License to us. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, and process Your Content solely to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service for you. This includes processing your text through our audio-generation providers to create your Signal audio, caching the resulting audio so it plays reliably, and syncing your practice across your devices.
- Sharing you choose. If you use a sharing feature (for example, a Signal Key), you authorize us to make the shared content or configuration available to the people you share it with. You control whether to share.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for Your Content. You confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate the law or the rights of others. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
7. AI-generated voices and audio
- The voices in the Service are synthetic, generated by artificial-intelligence text-to-speech technology. They are not recordings of a real person speaking your words, and no voice in the Service represents a real, identifiable individual unless expressly stated.
- When you generate a Signal, your text is processed by our voice-synthesis provider to produce the audio, and the generated audio is stored so it can be played back to you.
- We grant you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license to listen to and use the audio generated for you within the Service. You may not extract, resell, redistribute, or use generated audio to impersonate anyone or to train other AI systems.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
- submit content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, or that harasses or impersonates others;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, copy, resell, or interfere with the Service, its security, or its audio-generation systems;
- circumvent subscription requirements or access features you have not paid for;
- use the Service to create audio intended to deceive, defraud, or impersonate.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, orb and visual identity, audio technology, and the "Signal Society", "Signal", and "Signal Key" names and concepts, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for Your Content and the limited licenses expressly granted in these Terms, nothing transfers any rights to you.
10. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party services, including the Apple App Store (distribution and payment), RevenueCat (subscription management), analytics providers (currently PostHog), cloud hosting and storage providers, and AI voice-synthesis providers. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control. The Privacy Policy describes what data these providers process.
11. Notifications
The app can schedule optional local notifications on your device (for example, a daily practice reminder). You control these through iOS notification permissions and in-app settings, and you can turn them off at any time in your device Settings.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. By using the Service, you acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that it will produce any particular outcome. Nothing in this section limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Signal Society and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty (50) US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service and its users; where reasonable, we will give you notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive termination.
17. Apple App Store terms
Because you obtained the app through the App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or similar claims.
- In the event of a third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of the claim, to the extent required by these Terms.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Signal Society is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
